STRESS
You might know about this issue already from your life as an employee, but you will for sure get to feel it stronger, once you start your own company - You never have Peace of Mind to relax and be present in the moment.
We spend most of our time on Autopilot in our subconscious, where we don't taste the coffee we are drinking, don't taste the food we are eating, or don't even notice that our partner bought flowers for the house.. This is unfortunately the most normal thing to experience, when we are stressed
So what happens in our brain when we get stressed, is a Danger Alert. Stress appears when we sense a situation we need to run away from. It's alright in short term situations and can be useful for performances, as the brain will pump adrenalin into our blood. However, giving our body this kind of chock too often, will increase our blood pressure and heart rhythm, which leads to chronic stress. So before this happens, we need to learn how to control this Danger Alert!
It has been a very discussed topic for some time now; how to balance our work and private lives (or for others, enjoying the Starbucks coffee with Peace of Mind). Logically we should just leave the phone and computer once we enter the house, to then focus on our family (or coffee), but somehow it never turns out that easy. We might sit and play with the little ones, but in our minds, we are calculating budgets, reminding ourself of keynotes for the morning meeting, or sorting out the conflict between two employees. This result in a situation where we are not present in either or, and leaves us with both guilt, fights and extra work!
So how to actually get back to basics, where we can focus on the present, to enjoy the sweet taste of LIFE?STRUCTURE
Control and structure is very sensitive words and humans don't really like the idea of being tight up to schedules, timings and being labelled. However this is a fact: if you don't control and structure yourself, someone else will do it for you!
As mentioned before, we live most of our life in our subconscious, where we are programmed by our parents, teachers, friends, media etc. They have influenced our believes and have decided what is right and wrong for us - NOW is the time, where you will make the change to be in control of your own believes, your own habits and your own LIFE!
Your very first step towards change, is the fact that you are stil reading this blogpost.. You are already ready to change and rebuild the routines and stories in your mind.
First step to do so, is to find peace within yourself. It can actually be the hardest challange to allow yourself to love yourself. Start you new routine with simply breathing . Whenever you have 5 min alone during the day, stretch yourself and take a few deep breaths. Feel your heart rhythm and tell yourself that everything is exactly as it is supposed to.
Try it right now; close your eyes and take a deep breath!
Notice the smell around you, notice the details on the walls, floors or surroundings. The point in this exercise is to be present! Depending on your stress level, your thoughts will disturb your focus and keep drifting you away from this present moment. In that case, get a small notebook with you and note down everything coming to your mind.
Once it is noted down, allow yourself to let go of it, to focus on your breathing and surroundings again.. and again... and agin!
YES, this is the golden key - it is so simple, and makes such a difference in your life(!)STARBUCKS
Now that you have tried your new routine, it's time to get it under your skin. To reach the point where you are actually enjoy your Starbucks coffee with Peach of Mind, this routine needs to be practised as many times as possible throughout the day.
Like everything new, it will be hard to remember to do it, hard to keep focus and hard to find the time, so set alarms, tell your friends and family about it and stick posters around your house as reminders.
It is hard to adapt to new routines, because it only reach our conscious and is not a part of our autopilot program yet. It will take you about 20-30 exercises to turn it into a routine, and once you feel the change, this will change your life.
This new routine is good to do when you wake up in the morning, before having an important meeting, or if you feel controlled by your thoughts, feeling guilty of all the work you didn't finish.. Take 5 min for yourself; breath, remind yourself that everything is exactly as it is supposed to, and keep your a paper with you, to note down your thoughts.
Be grateful for the life you have been giving. Remind yourself that you are born with a purpose. You are here on this earth with a vision to share. You are unique and already perfect. You can become who you want, so take the time to feel yourself, what do you want? What is your purpose? And what can you do TODAY, to start living this life?
